I am teaching a photography class to 5th graders at my kids’ school and have decided to join them in the next few assignments. I could use some forced creativity! We have been learning about symbolism and how to communicate deeper meanings through photos and words. Last week’s assignment was to capture their favorite body part in a variety of ways and combine it with an additional art form (song writing, painting, poetry, etc.). Here is mine:

The wrist

To wield a hand

And enable an author

To enjoy good food

Or wipe tears from the eyes of the young

My wrist

To encircle with ease

A piece of delicacy

A shutter release-or

A reflection of me
